Rev. Darko Spasojevic
Fr. Darko Spasojevic was married and ordained in our Holy Resurrection Cathedral.
Fr. Darko was born in 1976 in Montbeliard, France where his parents were temporarily living and employed. When Fr. Darko was five years old when his family returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina to their village of Snjegotina Velika, Celinac, by Banja Luka. Fr. Darko's father passed away when Fr. Darko was only twelve years old. His mother Vidosava raised him and his sister Tanja as s single parent. His sister Tanja is married and has two children, Sofia and Pavle.
Fr. Darko attended St. Arsenius Seminary in Sremski Karlovci, Serbia in 1991. After completing seminary in 1996, he enrolled in the Theological Faculty in Belgrade. After his first year in Belgrade, he transferred to St. Sava School of Theology in Libertyville, Illinois, where he attended classes from 1997 – 2001. Upon graduation from St. Sava School of Theology, Fr. Darko was accepted into the graduate program at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Crestwood, New York and received his Masters degree from St. Vladimir's in theology. Fr. Darko was an exceptional student of theology throughout his academic career. His credentials are exceptional in many ways.
He was married on October 5, 2003. His wife Tamara is studying to be a doctor at Rosalind Franklin Medical School, North Chicago, Illinois. Fr. Darko was ordained as a deacon at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Joliet, Illinois on November 3rd and to the rank of priest in our Cathedral on December 4, 2004, by His Eminence Metropolitan Christopher.
