I am pleased to recommend the HRSOC Winter Retreat Camp gathering to all our Serbian Orthodox families that have a desire to teach their kids about the true meaning about our religion and culture. I was extremely pleased with the location, facilities, staff support, and we look forward to returning for our 2012 HRSOC Winter Retreat with our Serbian kids next year.
My special thanks to the organizers of the HRSOC Winter Retreat, Zora Voynovich and Fr. Radovan Jakovljevic , for making the retreat for our kids educational, enjoyable, spiritual, and very memorable.. The kids where very relaxed and eager to learn more about our Serbian Orthodox religion, culture, values and history. Although the camp provides many of the amentities of modern day life, we enjoy the strong outdoor "feel" it furnishes, along side many small cabins with lots of trees and adventurous trails for walking. Although we were not blessed with snow this year, there were great hills for tubing the children would have been able to enjoy.
Further, the facilities are clean, well-maintained, and provide for lots of recreation activity for the kids during the day which included indoor rock climbing, volleyball, soccer, basketball and a game room. Our kids experienced many acres of space to play football, run around, and a beautiful setting by the lake to make a bond fire in the evening. The event planners did a wonderful job ensuring the kids in the evening had may different religious arts and crafts available, along with great movie nights.
In conclusion, I was pleasantly surprised at the high level of energy and eagerness from the children to learn more about Orthodoxy, Serbian traditions and religion. Again, thank you to all our Priests, Deacon and volunteers for a job well done. As a parent, I look forward to returning with my kids next year for the 2012 Winter Retreat.
